As co-founder of National Wealth Management Group (NWMG), Gary Mathews served as CEO from the firm’s inception in 2015 until December of 2020. He started NWMG with the conviction that the work we do makes a significant difference and people deserve an advisor that can positively influence progress in their lives.
A visionary who passionately believed in infinite possibilities, Gary’s financial career began in 1986 with First American National Securities, where he specialized in portfolio management and financial coaching. As his reputation grew for helping clients achieve a greater level of financial success, he transitioned to a management role where he joined World Financial Group, supervising and coaching a large team of financial advisors. The multi-faceted and comprehensive nature of his career introduced him to a variety of walks of life, and his wisdom and insight, combined with a unique ability to see and draw out the best qualities in people, continues to be a part of the company’s culture to this day.
In 2008, Gary transitioned his practice to LPL Financial in pursuit of a better platform that could more effectively reach people and support them in making sound financial decisions. He began to grow the business into what is now National Wealth Management Group, an independent SEC Registered Investment Advisor. The company was born out his demand for greater autonomy, increased efficiency, and forward-thinking solutions for the clients we serve.
Gary maintained an exceptionally positive influence on his staff and clients, and was known for his critical thinking skills, sense of humor and huge heart. His strength in the face of life altering adversity is inspirational, encouraging, and profound. While Gary left this life prematurely in 2020, his mission to help others discover meaning with money and vocation continues with us. We will forever be grateful for and indebted to Gary Mathews for his vision, and determination to improve the lives of others, and honor his commitment to always make every day, and every relationship a matter of importance, taking nothing for granted.
